Nomination Form          Former Teachers of the Year     Application Form for Nominees

Once again it is a pleasure to announce that the time has come to prepare for the Teacher of the Year Program.  As you are aware, this is a program designed to celebrate excellence in teaching at the local level.  Last year, Laura Luther was recognized as Clinton’s Teacher of the Year.  We have many teachers worthy of nomination.  Please take a few minutes to complete the nomination form.

ELIGIBILITY

·         All certificated positions are eligible for nomination.

  1. The nominee should have demonstrated excellence in classroom instruction and be recognized as a positive role model within his/her building and the District.

  2. The nominee should have demonstrated the ability to encourage and support his/her colleagues in the pursuit of excellence in education.

  3. The nominee should have the respect and admiration of students, parents, colleagues, and administration.

  4. The nominee should play an active role in his/her community, and be a distinguished leader in civic and humanitarian activities.

  5. The nominee should be poised and articulate.  While poise, speaking ability, and an outgoing nature are attributes, the most important quality a nominee should possess is a superior ability to inspire learning in students.

RULES FOR NOMINATION

Only Connecticut certified, tenured public school teachers may be nominated.

·     The District Teacher of the Year will become a nominee for the Connecticut Teacher of the Year.  He or she must agree to complete the required State packet.

Completed nomination forms should be forwarded to the Assistant Superintendent no later than March 26th.  Those individuals nominated will be notified to ascertain whether they wish to complete the written response and go through the interview process.  Completed applications will be reviewed by a District Screening Committee to choose our teacher of the year.  This committee will be composed of seven (7) individuals as follows:

3 – Education Association of Clinton members

2 – Clinton Administrators Association members

1 – Former Clinton Teachers of the Year

1 – Central Office Administrator

This Committee will complete the process prior to the close of school in order for the successful teacher to complete the lengthy State packet.

PROCESS TIMELINE

  1. Nominations are due in Central Office by March 26th.

  2. Nominees will be notified, and required application packets sent to them.  Completed application packets must be returned by the nominee to Central Office by May 1st.

  3. District Screening Committee meets to review applications, meet with applicants, and perform classroom walkthroughs during the first part of May.

  4. Nominee is notified of status prior to close of school.  The State packet will be given to him/her.  Runners-up and Teacher of the Year will be asked to keep status confidential until Teacher of the Year is announced at opening day staff meeting in August.

Thank you for your interest and participation.
