Information concerning the Scholarships listed below is available in the Guidance Office.  You are responsible for following all rules on the applications, DEADLINES, and returning it to the Guidance Office.

Scholarships - Bulletins are located on the side of the file cabinet and on the bulletin board in the Guidance Office.

IF YOU NEED A TRANSCRIPT FOR YOUR SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION YOU MUST FILL OUT A TRANSCRIPT REQUEST FORM AT LEAST 10 DAYS BEFORE THE DUE DATEMAIL COULD TAKE UP TO 5 DAYS TO REACH ITS DESTINATION.

 

1. HORATIO ALGER SCHOLARSHIP – A scholarship to assist students who demonstrated integrity, perseverance in overcoming adversity, character, financial need ($50,000 or less adjusted gross income per family is preferred, if higher explanation must be provided), academic record, commitment to a college education, and desire to contribute to society.  You may apply online at www.horatioalger.org/scholarship or download the application.  DEADLINE OCTOBER 30, 2008

2.  2008 SAE ENGINEERING SCHOLARSHIPS - A scholarship for a graduating senior whose intent is to earn a degree in engineering or a related science field.  Undesignated Scholarship - $1,000 to $10,000 scholarships offered contingent on acceptance to being enrolled in an engineering program.  University sponsored scholarship – You must attend the college/university.

DEADLINE DECEMBER 1, 2008.

 

3.  COCA-COLA SCHOLARS FOUNDATION - – 250 scholarships for a truly motivated, dedicated, involved high school senior.  Apply on line at www.coca-colascholars.orgDEADLINE OCTOBER 31, 2008.

 

4.  AXA ACHIEVEMENT SCHOLARSHIP - Offers $10,000 to $25,000 scholarships to seniors who demonstrated outstanding achievement in their activities in school, the community, or the workplace.  Applicant must describe in detail an outstanding achievement they have accomplished in a non-academic activity or project.

5.  WENDY’S HIGH SCHOOL HEISMAN SCHOLARSHIP – A scholarship for high school students who excel in academics, athletics, and students leadership.  The link to the online application is www.wendysheisman.comDEADLINE OCTOBER 1, 2008.

6.  THE SOCIETY OF MAYFLOWER DESCENDANTS SCHOLARSHIP – Three $1,250 scholarships (Mr. Henry Griggs Isham Scholarship, Bernice Andrews Livingston Rieg Scholarship, and Jordon Konov Scholarship) will be awarded to graduating Connecticut seniors who plan to attend a college/university (letter of acceptance required), have academic achievement, extra-curricular involvement, community service and financial need is required.

7.  BIG Y’s SCHOLARSHIP - Big Y scholarships recognize academic merit and achievement.  They are awarded to the most outstanding students in the Big Y market area. You may pick up a scholarship application at any Big Y Market or in your Guidance Department.

8. BURGER KING SCHOLARS PROGRAM – The awards are $1,000 each for college expenses for qualified seniors.  Criteria for this award is a 2.5 GPA or higher, works part time (15 hours), involved in community service activities, financial need, and enrolled in a two/four year college, university, or vocational/technical school.

9. CONNECTICUT STATE UNIVERSITY SYSTEM FOUNDATION – The following scholarships are for students who will be attending a state university:  TED MARTOCCHIO SCHOLARSHIP (Building and Trades Union) Up to $2,000 award for graduating senior who will attend any of the four State Universities and is a child of a Building and Trades Union member.  DEADLINE APRIL 30, 2009

PRATT AND WHITNEY SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY SCHOLARSHIP – A $1,000 will be award to a graduating senior who will attend Southern Connecticut State University and has demonstrated interest and/or examples of excellence in science or technology.

T. CLARK HULL PUBLIC SERVICE SCHOLARSHIP – One $500 award to a graduating senior who will be attending Western Connecticut State University who has demonstrated leadership and commitment to service to their high school and/or community.

10. CONNECTICUT SPORTS WRITERS ALLIANCE – BOHDAN “BO” KOLINSKY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP – A $1,000 scholarship for graduating senior who is planning to attend a four-year college pursuing a career in Sports Journalism. Applications are available at www.ctsportswriters.orgDEADLINE MUST BE RECEIVED BY 9:00A.M. JANUARY 28, 2009 OR POSTMARKED BEFORE 5:00P.M. January 26, 2009.

 

11.  CONNECTICUT ALARM & SYSTEMS INTEGRATORS ASSOC. – Two scholarships for graduating seniors whose father, mother or natural guardian is a full-time paid employee of the Connecticut Police or Fire Communities.  See application for further information.
