    TEAM

Helping Students Succeed

2007 – 2008

Purpose

The Morgan Student Assistance Team will create a supportive interaction among students, staff, parents and the community, promoting success and well being.

Guiding Principles

We endorse the following principles:

The MSAT will:

*Provide prevention, intervention and aid troubled students through a team approach which fosters an atmosphere of open communication within the entire school community.

*Strive to identify students at risk.

*Enhance the wellness of the whole student by providing a community which responds to both the academic and emotional needs.

*Seek continual input for growth and change.

*Promote enthusiasm for the school by creating an atmosphere of mutual trust respect and support among students and staff.

…MSAT

If you are concerned about a student,

Your child, your child’s friend, another student who is having difficulty in school, with family problems with adjustment, making friends, with substance abuse, emotionally……

Then the Morgan Student Assistance Team may be able to help.

How MSAT works:

*A  concerned teacher, adult or student refers a student who is having difficulty to the student assistance team.

*One of the team’s members is assigned to:  collect information from teachers and other school personnel about the student

                  and

    to interview the student personally.

*The student assistance team meets to review the information, consider options, and to work towards resolution.

*The MSAT meets twice weekly to review student progress and new referrals.  The team tries to coordinate the use of school resources to assist students who are experiencing difficulty.
