Nominee’s Position Paper

Please respond to the following question:

“What attributes and practices characterize a Teacher of the Year?”

 

In your response, please address your personal feelings and beliefs about teaching, including your own ideas of what makes an outstanding teacher.  Please limit the response to two double-spaced pages (maximum), with type size no smaller than 10pt.

 

Educational and Employment History

Submit the following:

 

  1. Education - Beginning with the most recent, list colleges and universities attended including postgraduate studies. Indicate degrees earned and dates of attendance.
  2. Experience - Beginning with the most recent, list teaching employment history indicating time period, grade level and subject area.
  3. Additional Education and/or Special Training including Honors and Awards (A current resumé will suffice)
  4. Community/School Service

Interview

All candidates who complete the packet will be interviewed by the committee.

Please come prepared to answer and explain your position on the following question:

 

“What do you consider to be the major contemporary education issues of today?”

 

Walk-Through

Members of the committee will do a walk- through (5 minutes per class) for all candidates who complete the application for the position of teacher of the year and have been interviewed.

 

Focus:  Instructional strategies; learner engagement; survey of learner environment. This will be done after the interviews.
