On May 17th of last year students and staff were given time off during the school day to just read. The goal of this activity to get students to take reading seriously and get ahead start on summer reading . All students are required at Eliot to reading at least three books and be able to discuss these books at a book chat in the fall. The above pictures show kids spread out across the back of Eliot and enjoyed the opportunity to relax and read a interesting book. Katie Stonick and Vail Gilcher are shown below in the teacher's room setting up book list for this occasion.
