PROGRAM GOALS:

  THE CONNECTICUT FITNESS TEST:

   The CPFA is administered annually. This tests student fitness levels in muscle endurance, muscle flexibility, muscle strength, and body composition.  Each test provides both a recommended level of performance, called the "health level", as well as a level for exceptionally fit students, called the "challenge level". The levels are designed by gender and age differences. Activity tests include the mile run/walk, sit and reach, right angle push ups, and curl ups.

 

PE CURRICULUM:

   The PE Curriculum at Eliot is consistent with both the state and national standards for fitness education. Instruction targets fundamental movement skills, sports skills, cooperative and team building skills as well as motor learning refinement and sportsmanship.
